中国自古就有育马的传统，在两千多年前的汉代即从中亚引入优良种马改良本地马；马匹数达到70万，赛马、马球、马戏都很发达。

目前有20匹阿拉伯马在XX集团和XX企业合资的大兴分场饲养，另有部分在XXXX集团马业俱乐部饲养。1997年起先后在XX马场、XX军马场、XX军马场和京郊开始进行的阿拉伯马改良中国地方马种已初见成效。阿拉伯马山丹一代杂种马已有批量生产，改良效果明显。
目前，山丹军马场、昭苏种马场、伊犁马场等地繁育马匹的数量均达到数千匹。另外在内蒙古自治区、西南部等有许多当地马种。内蒙古自治区、新疆等地区有非常好的自然育马条件，有非常好的草场、基础母马。上述地区具有非常大的育马潜力，也非常适合引进许多国外的优秀马种。
Horse raising

Since the early stage of the founding of the People’s Republic of China in 1952, 1,100 studhorses were introduced from the former Soviet, to improve horses and breed into new varieties. Most of them were lightweight horses, including Soviet pure blood horse, Aha horse, Buqoni horse, Do River horse, Kabajin horse, Kalapayi horse and Orlov horse, etc. In today’s Inner Mongolia, there are only a few Kabajin horses and Sanhe horses left.
Many foreign choice horses are used to improve Chinese local horse varieties. Presently, Beijing XX Jockey Club breeds more than 2,000 choice pure blood horses. They are bred by means of pure blood horses of Australia hybridizing with the local horse varieties from Xinjiang and Inner Mongolia.
Now there are 20 Arabian horses are being raised in Daxing field, a joint project of China Herd Group and XX Company. Also some are being raised in China Herd Group Equestrian Club in Wuqing County. Since 1997, Some achievements have been made by using Arabian horses to improve Chinese local horse varieties in Shandan Military Horse Field, Zhaosu Military Horse Field, Hongshan Military Field and Beijing outskirt. Arabian horse-Shandan 1st Generation Hybrid Horses are in batch production. The improvement result is satisfactory.
At present, Shandan Military Horse Field, Zhaosu Military Horse Field and Yili Horse Field have separately bred up to several thousand horses. Additionally, there are a lot of local horse varieties in Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region and Southwest China region. There are ideal natural
conditions for horse raising, grass field and base mare in Inner Mongolia, Xinjiang, etc. The said regions have very large horse raising potential, and are also suitable to introduce elite horse varieties from other countries.
